Association of Canadian Law Foundations
NAIP and the Association of Canadian Law Foundations (ACLF) have been connected for many years. The Canadian members of NAIP belong to ACLF. A NAIP representative participates in at least one ACLF meeting each year and an ACLF representative participates on NAIP’s Board of Directors.
American Bar Association, Commission on IOLTA Programs
NAIP’s history is intertwined with the history of the ABA Commission on IOLTA. Both were established in 1986. NAIP and the Commission have operated in close cooperation to assist IOLTA programs to maximize the funding available for legal services. Together, we have provided training, consultation, research, and policy development for IOLTA programs.
Legal Services Corporation
The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is an independent nonprofit organization established by the United States Congress in 1974 to provide financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. It distributes funding to independent nonprofit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories.
National Legal Aid and Defender Association
For more than a century, NLADA has led a broad network of advocates on the frontlines to advance justice and expand opportunity for all by promoting excellence in the delivery of legal services for people who cannot afford counsel.
MIE
MIE is a nonprofit organization that advances best practices and innovation in the legal aid community, supporting program leadership by providing training, consulting and a flagship journal alongside a full and free exchange of ideas across the field.
American Bar Association, Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defense
Within the ABA, SCLAID has jurisdiction over matters related to the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of effective civil legal aid and criminal indigent defense delivery systems and services, including by: (a) advocating for meaningful access to the justice system for all; (b) supporting viable and effective plans to increase funding for legal aid and indigent defense delivery systems and services; and (c) developing standards and policy, disseminating best practices, and providing training and technical assistance.
American Bar Association, Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service
The Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service's mission is to ensure access to justice through the expansion and enhancement of the delivery of legal and other law-related services to the underserved through volunteer efforts of legal professionals nationwide.
In more recent years, NAIP has built connections with national philanthropic organizations and many regional philanthropic organizations.
